Wellbeing Apéro - February: Vibrations of Care: A Conversation on Music & Wellbeing
February’s Wellbeing Apéro at Serendip was a candlelit celebration of music, emotion, and community - exploring how sound can shape our sense of care and connection.
Vibrations of Care: A Conversation on Music & Wellbeing
As the rain fell outside, guests arrived to the warm glow of Serendip’s studio—tea in hand, meditation cushions chosen, and soft music already playing. We began with a grounding breath led by Emmanuelle Lambert, welcoming the week’s end and the weekend’s beginning.
Melissa Rancourt then introduced our guest, Han Bin Yoon, internationally acclaimed cellist and Artistic Director of the Belgium Cello Society. Together, they explored how music can be a ritual of wellbeing -touching emotions, shaping posture, and building community. Han Bin spoke of the “switch” he activates before performance, a moment when breath, presence, and emotion align. He shared how musicians care for their bodies, how posture and awareness are essential to avoid strain, and how vulnerability and creativity must be balanced to sustain artistic wellbeing.
We listened to Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Pärt, a piece Han Bin uses to relax and sleep soundly. As the music played, candlelight flickered and the room breathed together - closing the evening in shared stillness and reflection.
Our monthly Apéro series is about unexpected discoveries - reframing wellbeing through different lenses. This February, we found that music isn’t just something we hear -it’s something we feel, embody, and share.
What role does music play in your own wellbeing? Whether it’s a morning playlist, a concert with friends, or a quiet moment with cello and candlelight - music might be your next ritual of care.
