Wellbeing Apéro - January: Find the Joy in Walking
Serendip’s first Wellbeing Apéro of 2026 was a cozy, candlelit celebration of movement, mindfulness, and community—centered around the joyful art of walking.
Wellbeing Apéro: Find the Joy in Walking
We kicked off our 2026 series with a warm and welcoming evening at Serendip, where the studio glowed with candlelight and conversation. Nestled on meditation cushions, we began with a gentle breathing session led by Emmanuelle, helping us release the week and breathe into the weekend.
Our guest, Dr. Manuel Schmitz - a Brussels-based guide, author, and political scientist - shared his remarkable journey of walking every street in Brussels: 567 walks, 2,900 kilometers, over four years. In our Q&A, Manuel spoke about walking with intention, choosing neighborhoods with curiosity, and treating his front door as a ritual threshold. He described journaling as a reflective practice, capturing the surprises and delights of Brussels’ hidden corners.
This Apéro wasn’t just about steps - it was about reframing wellbeing. Through Manuel’s story, we explored how walking can be a joyful, transformative act: a way to connect with our environment, our goals, and ourselves.
So how can you find your own joy in walking? Start small. Choose a route that intrigues you. Step out with purpose. And when you return, take a moment to reflect—because wellbeing might just begin with the simple act of opening your front door.
